Training Etiquette

Living and respecting our Capoeira training etiquette demonstrates that you respect your academy, your instructor(s), your training partners and your friends.


  1. Arrive five minutes before the start of the class. If you need to leave early, please let the teacher know first
  2. Say hello to everyone on arrival. Say goodbye to everyone when leaving the class
  3. If you arrive late to class, warm up by doing 30 push ups, 30 sit ups and 30 squats by yourself on the side ,go shake the teacher’s hand and join the class
  4. Proper athletic underwear is required for both men and women
    Ladies should wear sports bras
  5. Students must wear their Oficina da Capoeira uniform in the class [abada and camisa]
  6. According to Capoeira rank, advanced people are always on the front giving example to people behind them. Always show respect to the higher belt
  7. Be a good training partner and help each others and work as a team
  8. If you see someone new, please introduce yourself and make them feel welcome
  9. No shoes, food or drink on the mat
  10. No phones or swearing during the class on the mat
  11. If you don’t understand something, ask the instructor or the higher belt for help
  12. Keep a good hygiene for yourself and for the others
  13. Shake your partner’s hand before and after practise
  14. Talking should be kept to a minimum level and should relate to the class subject
  15. The belt represents your progress. Keep it on.
